. Job Purpose: Lead the Convention's Human Resources Department to serve and support Convention staff in their work of helping the churches advance the Great Commission together.
Responsibilities: Supervises Human Resources staff. Leads recruitment, screening, interviewing, and onboarding processes for new employees. Conducts exit interviews for outgoing staff when possible. Maintains staff personnel files, records, and job reviews. Works with ED-T, AED-T, and CFO to set compensation for new and existing staff. Ensures appropriate background checks are performed for employees, employee candidates, and Convention volunteers. Liaises between employees when conflict occurs. Liaises between employment attorney(s) and Executive Leadership when necessary. Is available and welcoming to employees who seek counsel relating to HR matters. Reports employee needs to supervisors and/or executive leadership as needed and recommends resources and/or solutions. Leads the HR team and works with accounting to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, benefits, and deductions. Oversees the filing of worker compensation claims when they occur. Ensures compliance with government regulations regarding labor practices, payroll-related reporting, and employee health and safety. Recommends and implements practices to ensure compliance with Affordable Care Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Department of Labor standards, and other employer-employee related laws and guidelines. Assists with coordination of annual employee events such as Christmas parties, support staff appreciation days, etc. Serves as the primary communicator to staff regarding internal policy changes and organizational developments related to human resources. Maintains and updates employee handbook, employee policy documents, and job descriptions for all convention positions. Manages assigned budget under the direction of the ED-T. Works joyfully with all ministry staff to accomplish the work of the Convention. Works joyfully with Convention Ministry Partners as a source of counsel and encouragement, when requested and approved by supervisor. Assists the ED-T and AED-T in building and facilitating healthy staff culture. Performs other tasks as assigned by the ED-T. Qualifications
SHRM, PHR, aPHR, GPHR, HRCI, and/or HRM certification. (Preferred) Earned bachelor's or master's degree in a field of study related to Human Resources. Capable administration of budgets, programs, and general strategy of engagement. Effective communicator. Customer-service mindset for organizational Human Resource leadership. Commitment to serving with humility in a team-based leadership organization model. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Human Resource, Financial, and other relevant software applications. Has the reputation for honesty, integrity, confidentiality, and responsibility in all matters. Active member in a cooperating Baptist church in South Carolina. Agrees to work within the parameters of the current Baptist Faith and Message . Physical Requirements
