Job TitleHuman Resources Administrator - Academic Affairs Agency Texas A&M University - San Antonio Department Office Of Human Resources Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location San Antonio, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description The Human Resources Administrator I, under direction, serves as a subject matter expert and a team lead for the division of Academic Affairs. Is responsible for the human resource process workflow for the division and administers human-resourced activities. Serves as a backup in managing and leading a human resources unit. May recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate performance, and develop professional development plans for assigned staff.
Responsibilities: Serves as a subject matter expert and a team lead over the division of Academic Affairs.
Review monthly payroll reports for academic affairs departments; assist HR Contacts with payroll questions, and update on necessary payroll changes, diagnose, and assist with resolving payroll issues.
Review new faculty hiring documents for completion including all necessary documents and approvals.
Support and train Academic Administrative personnel with Workday business processes.
Review and approve Workday business processes for faculty.
Provides input to the strategic plans for the human resources unit.
Serves as a backup in managing and leading a human resources unit. Assists in developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals.
Guides departments and management regarding HR practices, compliance, laws, regulations, and ethics.
Effectively communicates HR programs, practices, and policies to employees in the Academic Affairs division.
Ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Effectively communicates with HR leaders.
Oversees and/or prepares reports and documents related to human resources activities related to a specific function in Academic Affairs.
Oversees and approves actions in Workday or related systems.
Advises management on the administration of operating plans and policies for human resource activities.
Develops and revises guidelines, policies, procedures, and rules.
Advises staff and management on issues, rules, policies, regulations, and standard administrative procedures related to human resources management.
Researches and completes various projects, as requested by the HR Leadership and HR Management.
Alongside the human resources manager, partners with managers to understand the department's current and future HR challenges, and identify HR needs and opportunities for improvement.
Develops formal and informal messages related to Academic Affairs, as appropriate for intended audiences.
Works with international services, faculty affairs, student employment, graduate professional school, research, payroll, and tax on highly complex questions and requests related to a specific function in an assigned unit.
Develops and maintains a network of professional contacts within the university including peers in HR and non-HR roles, customers, and management.
May oversee and manage specialized HR events and programs.
May serve as a backup team lead in another specialized human resource function in an assigned area, such as benefits, classification and compensation, employee relations, immigration, leave, onboarding, payroll, performance evaluation/management, organization development, recognition/rewards, recruitment, and workers' compensation.
Attends human resources trainings and/or informational meetings.
May recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate performance, and develop professional development plans for assigned staff.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree
Five (5) years of related experience
