Description
The Golf Maintenance Apprentice will be groomed to play a lead role on the golf maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, reliable, eager to learn, excited to lead and motivate staff, and help cultivate a positive work atmosphere. The position will require the following duties: routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance, some semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work, operating small hand-powered equipment, performing spray and granular chemical applications on greens, tees, fairways, and roughs, some work involving large equipment, and performing other jobs as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents to maintain the condition of the course to Hyatt standards.
Key Responsibilities, Skills, Aptitude, and Knowledge:
Participate in the development of all turf management programs and practices. Participate in the development and execution of the golf course budget. Assist in supervision of routine maintenance functions, assist in scheduling, assignments, and equipment distribution. Assist in supervision of irrigation and drainage systems operation and maintenance. Assist in the training of all crew members as required for proper work performance and safety. Assist in recording documentation of weather, work, spray, fertilization, cultural, and other data as required in designated logbooks and forms. Communicate with mechanic on all repairs and service needed. Qualifications Previous relevant work experience preferred 2- or 4- year degree in turf grass management of a related field preferred Highly organized and detail oriented Able to work in a fast-paced environment Mechanical aptitude is a plus Must obtain spray license from the State of Texas within 90 days of hire Open availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
