Job Summary The Heavy Equipment Operator is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of various construction equipment including dozers, loaders, excavators, graders, and haul trucks.

Responsibilities Operates front-end loaders, dozers, backhoes, haul trucks, and other mobile equipment Loads trucks and maintains proper quantities of material to be loaded Follow directions of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations Completes visual and daily safety inspection of equipment to ensure safe operations Performs routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires Follows established traffic patterns avoiding road hazards and other hazardous conditions Ensures that safety, compliance, environmental, and OSHA and MSHA requirements are always followed Performs other duties as assigned Education High school diploma/GED
Requirements/Qualifications Experience operating heavy equipment, specifically large dozers in a mining/construction environment Able to operate heavy equipment while following safety procedures Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels Must be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, and other unusual elements, such as loud noise, dirt, dust, fumes, etc. Able to work a flexible schedule including overtime and weekend hours as required MSHA training certification a plus Conditions of Employment Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
