The Head of School is the chief administrator of the school responsible for delivering a program of academic excellence and educational leadership; articulating a vision for the future growth and development of the school; maintaining the primacy of Christ in all school endeavors; marketing the school to prospective school families; supervising and developing key leadership talent within the administration, staff and faculty; maintaining day-to-day leadership of educational and operational activities of the school; developing and retaining enrollment to maximize available facilities; and representing the school professionally and enthusiastically while developing positive relationships with key stakeholders and community.

Coordinate accreditation tasks and lead faculty in the process. Participate in on-going budgeting processes and cost control with primary focus in the areas of professional development, in-service, and curriculum with the CFO. Serve as primary resource in conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and referral recommendations for educational staff, students and parents. Serve as resource and support for parent organizations. Collaborate the annual review of the Teacher, Parent/Student, and Instructional Aide handbooks. Oversee the maintenance of curriculum guides to provide seamless transitions and meet graduation requirements as well as University Admission Requirements. Supervise curriculum review committees and order materials for implementation through the Business Office. Supervise, support and evaluate teachers and support team . Recruit and interview and potential teachers. Collaborate the induction program for teacher credentialing. Support the ACSI event coordinator in planning and implementation of academic contests. Oversee professional development and emergency preparedness training for faculty. Verify implementation of curriculum adoptions and standards and monitor the linking of assessment to instruction. Serve as primary disciplinarian in cases of repeated or serious offenses and matters that may lead to contracts or expulsion. Serve on Student Study Teams as needed. Oversee placement of returning students in classes and/or student schedules at the beginning of each year with the Admissions Manager. Oversee Community Development and Parent / Teacher events. Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors. Work with COO to prioritize facilities maintenance and improvements as they relate to safety of staff and students, public image of the school, and the instructional program. GOVERNANCE Offer professional advice to the school board when requested on items requiring board action, with appropriate recommendations based on thorough study and analysis. Drive the formation of the school's long-range strategic plan. Attend school board meetings and provide input when requested and prepare monthly board reports as required. Deal directly and frankly with the Principal in an earnest effort to resolve differences of opinion when they exist. Show support for school board policy and decisions to the staff, parents, and public. PERSONNEL Establish, implement, and refine procedures for the recruitment, orientation, supervision, evaluation, and motivation of personnel. Ensure that all school personnel have current written job descriptions. Help evaluate the school staff and provide each employee with a written evaluation. Ensure that all personnel files are current, treated with appropriate confidentiality, and adequately safeguarded. Provide HR with a copy of all employee records and documents. Assist the Principal to develop and train a pool of competent substitute teachers and volunteers to ensure continuity of the school program. BUSINESS AND FINANCES Provide input to the board of directors for the development and implementation of the school's long-range financial plan. Oversee and manage the school's budgetary expenditures and procedures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The school is currently a multilevel facility, which requires the Head of School to negotiate flights of stairs regularly to meet responsibilities as they relate to the school program. The Head of School must be able to speak clearly and loudly so students will be able to understand what is being said. On numerous occasions, the Head of School will be required to communicate orally with parents in person or over the telephone. The Head of School must be able to respond quickly when an emergency arises. This person is required to accompany and control children during fire drills or other emergency drills or during an actual emergency. The escape route may require the students and faculty to traverse one flight of stairs and to proceed 500 feet from the building to the evacuation area. During the course of regular school operation, the Head of School must walk around the building, or buildings, and traverse stairs several times a day. This person must also be able to walk around the school property for the purposes of supervision and inspection. The Head of School must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time and have dexterity of hands and fingers for operating office equipment. On occasion, the Head of School must be able to work longer hours than a typical day for events such as parent-teacher conferences, special programs, committee meetings, or other meetings or functions in the early morning or the evening.
