More information about Chevron is available atwww.chevron.com.Chevron Financial AnalystThis is a financial analyst role supporting Chevron's Midcontinent Business Unit (MCBU) in the Permian Basin on the Operations Support Finance Team. The Team provides full finance support to MCBU's shale & tight business and works in close partnership on a wide range of decision support activities to provide insightful analysis to meet the goals of high returns, low carbon.This role is responsible for providing analytical and reporting support to MCBU Operations through financial and management reporting and decision support activities. In addition, this role is responsible for understanding key operational drivers of financial outcomes, ensuring accurate financials, correct application of accounting policies, ad hoc analysis for Operations Leadership, and offers scope to lead special projects tied to finance and business initiatives.Key Considerations:Interest in growing understanding of finance and shale & tight operations, with an expectation of in-role development within the Midland, TX office over a number of years.Hybrid work model: three days-in office, two days remote. The company rewards strong performance by providing accounting and finance professionals with advancement opportunities across the corporation.Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:Provide timely counsel to business partners, including assessing and proactively identifying financial issuesDrive good decision making through financial and economic analysisAct as the point of contact for operations team, connecting to Chevron's global finance organization including Financial Shared Services, Accounting Policy and ComptrollersPartner with the functions to identify and implement process improvements, simplifications, and automation opportunitiesEnsure timely and accurate reporting with strong financial controlsIdentify and track value drivers and make recommendations for improvementImprove financial fluency and acumen within the organizationRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business10+ years of relevant experience in Finance/Accounting, preferably in onshore oil & gasPreferred Qualifications:Excellent ability to analyze financial information and turn data into actionable insights. Ability to relate financial results to operational events and applicable business modelsExtensive data analytics experienceDemonstrated aptitude to quickly learn new tools & system functionalityAbility to handle multiple job responsibilities, set priorities, maintain a high level of accomplishment, and implement process improvements. Ability to listen carefully and to use clear, concise oral and written skills to convey facts, present positions and interpret policies. Ability to effectively interact with colleagues and management, providing clear, logical recommendations in a concise manner to stakeholdersCorporate Finance/Accounting, Public Accounting or Advisory experiencePracticing knowledge of accounting policies/procedures (including COPAS, US GAAP, general accounting, revenue recovery, inventory accounting, property accounting, fixed assets, tax accounting and affiliate accounting)Demonstrated experience with accounting software (SAP) and Microsoft Office 365,including intermediateand advanced Excel, PowerApps and Power BI. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply concepts and controls to business transactionsStrong commitment to maintaining collaborative and cross-functional working relationships with internal partners and external customersAbility to handle and/or lead projects and influence others to achieve objectives.
