We're seeking an experienced and compassionate individual to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who:
- Has experience assisting others in navigating systems of care (such as DDD, AHCCCS, etc.) to obtain services for their child.
- Has personal experience as a parent, guardian, or caregiver of a child affected by autism and has navigated these systems themselves.
- Thrives on helping others and excels at navigating challenging situations.
- Possesses strong administrative and communication skills, demonstrated in previous work experiences.
As a Family Support Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to provide hands-on, caring, and compassionate assistance to parents in accessing services, navigating systems, and coordinating care among different providers. Part of this role involves staying informed about available services and programs in the community, enabling you to maximize access to care and minimize stress and barriers for families.
This position is predominantly remote, with occasional travel to our main office and events. We anticipate it being 90% remote work, 5% client visits, and 5% community/networking. The starting pay range is $19-$24 per hour, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Care Coordination:
- Support intake processes across departments
- Obtain permissions and communicate with individual clients' healthcare networks
- Communicate with clients and staff to provide high-quality care coordination and resolve challenges efficiently and effectively
- Participate in follow-up processes to ensure continued support
- Track activities and report back to appropriate departments
- Update and maintain electronic databases
- Attend meetings to support families (e.g., DDD meetings, CFT meetings, etc.)
Family Support:
- Be the first point of contact for families reaching out to the organization
- Respond quickly, efficiently, and professionally to all communications
- Educate families on available funding sources and services, both internal and external
- Facilitate contact with intake points, both internal and external
- Provide emotional support and perspective for families experiencing stressful circumstances related to their child's care
Stay Informed:
- Attend internal programmatic and operations meetings, as well as external systems of care meetings
- Attend relevant case management meetings for clients
- Participate in community events and collect resources for the organization and families
- Function as an in-house expert, answering staff questions and disseminating information about programs, service delivery systems, and community resources for families
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- At least 21 years of age
- Minimum of 2 years of personal/lived experience navigating relevant systems of care (e.g., Behavioral Health, DDD, ABA Services), with sufficient knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, systems of care, treatments, and services to be classified as a "Specialist"
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience requiring strong communication skills (verbal and written), as well as the ability to perform administrative-level work using Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Professional experience navigating and/or implementing Arizona systems of care (e.g., Behavioral Health, DDD, ABA Services) is preferred
- Bilingual (fluent in both verbal and written Spanish) is a plus, but not required
- Successful completion of a background check and other related hiring requirements, including a Tuberculosis test
