We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Patient Accounts Representative to join our team. As a crucial member of our integrated healthcare delivery system, you'll respond to patient inquiries regarding healthcare accounts receivables across multiple facilities. Your role involves communicating effectively with patients, colleagues, providers, and operational staff to ensure exceptional service delivery.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Handle incoming telephone inquiries promptly and document interactions thoroughly and accurately.
Ensure timely responses to inquiries via phone, fax, email, or mail to assist customers in understanding their patient responsibility.
Address pre-collection and bad debt collection agency inquiries in a timely manner.
Educate patients on outstanding bills, recognizing inaccurate information, and assisting with various billing-related matters.
Initiate and resolve account receivable errors, collaborating with billing or coding teams.
Discuss patients' options for resolving outstanding balances and connect them with financial counseling services if needed.
Ensure accurate processing and posting of all payment types to patient balances.
Assist patients with setting up and navigating online systems.
Obtain and verify insurance information and confirm payer filing order.
Analyze and process refunds for overpayments.
Meet quality and productivity expectations.
Identify and escalate potential billing error trends to leadership.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding patient balance issues.
Maintain strict confidentiality standards for patient information.
Adhere to legal, ethical, and HIPAA standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Required:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Billing, Coding, or related field preferred.
Three (3) years of Call Center experience.
One (1) year of billing (billing and coding) experience.
Six (6) months of remote work experience.
Experience in healthcare/medical office customer service strongly preferred.
Ability to interpret insurance billing processes.
Technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Suite and guiding patients with online payment methods.
Ability to remain calm and de-escalate callers when necessary.
