Job Summary What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into the nation's leading voice on mental health. NAMI Sumner and Wilson Counties is one of 650 local affiliates of NAMI, The National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
NAMI Sumner and Wilson Counties is a newly expanded affiliate and is poised for community expansion.
We currently have an opening for an Executive Director. The Executive Director provides leadership to identify, evaluate, champion, and execute opportunities to drive awareness, increase resources, and facilitate growth for NAMI Sumner and Wilson Counties, a 501c3 organization. The Executive Director is a comprehensive, servant leader for the organization and within the community, responsible for overseeing the programs, administration, and strategic planning for the good of the organization and all whom it serves. The Executive Director leads the development and execution of plans that maximize our impact, enhancing philanthropic and shared value activities. They cultivate relationships across members, leaders, community organizations, and businesses, and cross-functionally with NAMI Tennessee to help deliver results.
This full-time position is based in our Hendersonville, Tenn. Offices.
Job ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Servant LeadershipAffiliate OperationsFundraising and PhilanthropyMarketing, Community Outreach, & Public RelationsFiscal ManagementMental Health AdvocacyReputation StewardshipGeneral Responsibilities include:
Responsible for leading in a manner consistent with the mission and vision defined by the Board of DirectorsResponsible for fundraising and developing other revenue streams necessary to support the mission of NAMI Sumner and Wilson CountiesResponsible for the fiscal management of NAMI Sumner and Wilson Counties, including day-to-day fiscal management, annual budget, and monthly financial reports, in partnership with the board TreasurerResponsible for grant writing, grant management, and communicationsResponsible for implementing programs that support the organization's mission in conjunction with the vision and goals of the Board of directors – keeping in mind the resource and advocacy needs of those in the community affected by mental health conditionsWith the Board of Directors, is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic plan and assessing the plan's performanceResponsible for building collaborative relationships with professionals, community organizations, and other non-profitsWork collaboratively with organization staff/volunteers. Provide direct encouragement to volunteers.Oversee the organization of the Board, committees, and other applicable meetingsNote: may require some nights, weekends, and occasional travelQualificationsNon-profit leadership experience; a record of leadership experienceStrong knowledge of the mental health field and peer- and family experienceA strong commitment to public serviceStrong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrate excellent judgment and relationship management skillsAbility to collaborate with staff and community partnersWorking knowledge of MS Office SuiteExperience working with a Board of DirectorsExperience with strategic planningExperience in developing new revenue streams, fundraising, events, and donor relationsStrong organizational and problem-solving skillsFiscal management skills, including budget preparation, decision-making, and reportingMust pass a background checkAdditional InformationBenefitsYour salary is only one component of the total compensation package.
