As the Executive Director DEI Strategic Initiatives, you will a ssist the Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity and Chief Diversity Officer with shaping and executing DEI initiatives to foster a culture of diversity and belonging.
You will: Help to implement and develop comprehensive DEI strategies that align with the Division of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access and Belonging. Collaborate with campus partners to help drive DEI initiatives and support retention efforts for students, faculty, and staff. Establish metrics and track progress to measure the effectiveness of the DEI initiatives and make data-driven recommendations for improvement. Assist the Vice President on collaboration with HR and other departments to ensure DEI is integrated into all aspects of the employee experience including recruitment, retention, and performance management. Serve as a point of contact for employees' support for DEI strategic initiatives and cultural competency programs.
Ensure university programs are following relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees and leaders on topics related to diversity, equity, inclusion, access and belonging. Facilitate workshops, seminars, and discussions to promote awareness, understanding, and cultural competence. Assist in providing resources to faculty, staff, and students to foster a culture of continuous learning and development in DEI. In conjunction with HR, analyze talent acquisition strategies established for reaching underrepresented groups to assist in increasing the number of qualified diverse candidates to apply for career opportunities at UNH. Establish partnerships with university organizations and diversity-focused initiatives to enhance our impact on diversity, equity, inclusion, access and belonging. Implement initiatives to enhance engagement, satisfaction, and retention, among marginalized groups. Continuously assess and review the DEIAB strategy based on feedback, best practices, and evolving university needs. Make appropriate recommendations for improvements and implement as required. Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate key findings and progress to the Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity and Chief Diversity Officer . Use data-driven insights to measure the effectiveness of DEI initiatives over time. You need: Bachelor's degree required; Graduate degree preferred. 3-6 years working with diverse populations in a college or university setting Proven experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and student organizations. Supervisory experience required. Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, and theories of student learning and development. Understanding of the cultural, social, and educational needs of the college community. Understanding of the unique needs of underrepresented individuals. Proven ability to manage large scale projects and implement accordingly. Ability to represent the University of New Haven in a variety of situations and be able to competently interact with a diverse population of prospective students, faculty, and staff. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, project management and verbal and written communication skills.
