Job DescriptionDrives gasoline or diesel powered equipment to move materials, tow trailers, pull out objects imbedded in ground, dig up ground or pull cable of winch to raise, lower, or load heavy material or equipment by performing the following duties.ResponsibilitiesPerform pre-use, monthly, quarterly and/or annual inspections for the equipment in which he/she will operateFastens attachments, such as graders, plows, and rollers, to tractor with hitch pins.Releases brake, shifts gears, and depresses accelerator or moves throttle to control forward and backward movement of tractor.Steers heavy equipment by turning steering wheel and depressing brake pedals.Immediately report all Incidents/Accidents, no matter how small, to their Supervisor.Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.This position has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent or ten (10) years Heavy Equipment Operator experience will be considered.Minimum five (5) years directly related experience required.Previous backhoe, forklift, Hyster Forklift, 924, D5, Grader, 5T dump truck and grader experience.Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
