MAJOR FUNCTION
This position will provide full time environmental health and safety support to the HPW operations and will ensure that all practices are in compliance with Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements. The position will be responsible for coordinating regulatory programs, permitting applications, lead the development and coordination of the EHS training programs as required for compliance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.
* Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach.
* Ensure that contractor personnel working on the property are in compliance with Nilfisk policies and safety requirements.
* Maintain and update as needed SOP's for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in day to day training.
* Provide advice, assist, and audit line management to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and working.
* Perform and contribute to the Site Training Plans by conducting employee orientations; emergency response training; and coordination of modular training programs.
* Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected.
* Coordinate with the Head of Operations of the facility, correcting deficiencies and conducting monthly safety inspections.
* Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements.
* Create and assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures.
* Accountable for researching, writing and submitting environmental permit applications.
* Accountable for compliance completing permit reporting requirements.
* Review and manage all corrective actions based on accidents, incidents and near miss incidents.
* Manage a "Near Miss" reporting system.
* Create filing systems regarding worker training and safety.
* Maintain working relationships with Regulatory Agencies.
* Chair the Safety Committee.
* Create a Nilfisk Job Safety Analysis Matrix (JSA).
* Create Emergency Response Teams.
* Hold regular quarterly EHS status report meetings.
* Create data and actions plans as well as participate in monthly MBR meetings.

* Perform, schedule and maintain all maintenance, facilities needs, and / or supervise direct reports of the Maintenance staff.
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
* AS degree in a technical field of study, a bachelor degree in related field preferred
* Minimum of five years experience in Environmental Health and Safety role OR experience of 10+ years of industrial work environments.
* Excellent computer skills (e.g. MS Office including Excel and Word) are essential.
* Excellent written and verbal skills
* Must hold OSHA 30 hour training certification, or willing to complete within first 90 days of hire..
