Job Summary For those interested in Field Operations Associate role, then this is the perfect job for you. You will be under supervision, perform field tasks related to growing and preparing crops for field research trials on a local field research station.
Job Description Hand harvest duties in our corn field trials. This may include harvesting ears from plants, filling and emptying dryer bins with bags of ears, biomass harvest, etc. Use of hand loppers for biomass harvest. Data collection such as maturity notes, etc. in corn research plots utilizing handheld computing devices, ex) Panasonic Tough Pad. Must either have experience with field crops or can quickly learn and understand basic agronomic knowledge. Support Client's Safety program by adhering to all safety policies and attend regular safety meetings. Take daily direction from supervisors and managers and carrying out all duties as assigned. Adhere to all established Standard Operating Procedures when carrying out assigned tasks. Ensuring compliance of regulated trails by assisting with volunteer plant removal. This position may require driving to and from on & off-site research fields with use of a company pool vehicle or UTV. Mileage will not exceed 5,000 miles in the year. Passengers (no more than 6) may be transported by employee in peak seasons to assist in workload. Additional contingencies required for all drivers. Assist in weeding, preparing fields, preparing seed, tissue sampling, rouging, and other field and seed activities related to crops and fields. Assist with inside lab work including cleaning, packing boxes for shipping, and organizing supplies. Assist in the maintenance and improvement of the farms and assets. Skills Required Daily outdoor activities related to crops and fields Walk and work on uneven terrain Perform manual labor, bending, and lifting up to 60 pounds Work inside on some occasions, sitting or standing for extended periods of time Operate touch screen handheld computers Understand English verbal and written instructions Perform assigned tasks accurately Function as a team member Work independently and efficiently Communicate with supervisors and provide updates Dependable, must have good work attendance Detail Oriented Well organized Extended hours or shift work may be required in peak seasons. Education/Training/Certifications Highschool or equivalent Additional Requirements Must be able to pass drug screen & criminal background check Work clothing requirement of employee-provided long pants and long-sleeved shirts while working in any field. This is not considered PPE, but work clothing, which the employee will need to provide and wear to work. Must wear required & Client-provided PPE at all times. Closed toe shoes required (or steel toes if designated by safety protocols). Hours: Monday-Friday: 8 AM – 4:30 PM with half hour lunch and two 15-minute breaks Potential opportunity of overtime in peak seasons with possible weekend work. Work is contingent on weather conditions and can result in days off when weather/growing conditions are not ideal or unsafe.
