Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering


A broad knowledge of refinery and chemical processes and equipment functions. Minimum 10 years of experience.


Must be competent in: process and hydraulic simulations, utilities and flare networks, ability to issue process descriptions, describe operation philosophies and basis of process control.


Candidate must be familiar with cost estimate through a project's lifecycle.

It's about completing project development through FEED (Front-end engineering and design) including cost/benefit studies, final project j ustifications, and achieving stakeholder buy-in.

Some of the main activities include:


• Complete project development through FEED for the Port Arthur Platform, Base Chemicals and BASF-TotalEner gies Petrochemicals LLC (BTP), and Baystar assets located at the platform. This activity includes but is not limited to coordinating project cost/benefit studies, developing final project j ustifications, and achieving consensus among the customers such that these projects may be presented for funding approval.


• Participate and coordinate strategic special projects and studies such as Relief systems capacity compliance, Air emissions compliance, Mitigation of Hazop findings, reduction of CO2 emissions/Ener gy Efficiency, Processing of Renewable feedstock.


• Participate in profitability improvement programs to evaluate and implement high payout, low cost, capital projects to improve the platform, Base Chemicals, and BTP competitive positions, and return on capital employed.


• Assist with approved capital projects as they move to EPC phase. This includes assisting during generation/upd ate of operating manual, training of operators, MOC, start-up and troubleshootin g. Context & Environment
This role is based at the Port Arthur Platform within the Project Development department (part of the larger Technical Department). It has no direct reports and manages capital projects with an annual average value of ~$20 million total (5-10 projects per year) Additional Information
