Monona Grove School District has an opening for a 1.0 FTE English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher. Position begins on August 19. 2024.



Overview:
The ELL Teacher provides support for students who are identified as English Language Learners in a variety of settings including co-teaching, small group instruction, and consultation with classroom teachers as well as provides support for staff through co-planning/co-serving and capacity building. This position is expected to serve grades 6-12.


The ELL teacher uplifts and supports equity and inclusion work in all facets of curriculum and instruction, including work specifically tied to Integrated Comprehensive Systems of Equity throughout the district.



Responsibilities: Identify ELL students using the district criteria, including the ACCESS assessment. Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate instructional programming to meet the needs of ELL students. Collaborate with the District ELL team on programming, data analysis, and instructional planning. Support classroom teacher capacity building through coaching and coplanning. Be a resource for colleagues by modeling instructional strategies, identifying and developing instructional resources, and providing professional development related to the needs of ELL students. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and members of the school community. Fulfill ESEA compliance requirements related to this position. Introduce teachers to new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student achievement. Assist with coordinating, designing, and delivering professional learning opportunities for all staff. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:

Experience and Training: Valid Wisconsin Driver's License required. Experience and/or training working with English language learners at various age levels and diverse backgrounds preferred. Experience with the ACCESS assessment preferred. Experience working with students from a variety of cultural, racial, socioeconomic, and linguistic backgrounds as well as students from a variety of family structures preferred.
License Requirement: English as a Second Language (1395) license, or ability to obtain license upon hire required Early Adolescence – Adolescence or; Early Childhood – Adolescence
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Fluency in multiple languages preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students and their families.
