SummaryAs a member of the John Paul II Parish and Academy leadership team, the Director of Advancement and Renewal serves the parish and school by working with leadership to design, implement, and maintain a creative vision and strategy for parish renewal through leadership, mission advancement, development, culture, marketing, communication, and outreach. Strong entrepreneurial spirit, clear vision, and exceptional relationship-building skills are critical. The Director executes this role in the service of the greater goal of advancing the authentic Christian mission of the parish and a deeper living of the Gospel in the lives of parishioners. Must display and maintain an active spiritual life rooted in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, committed to personal prayer, and frequenting the sacraments as required by the Catholic ChurchFamiliarity with GSuite, Microsoft Office; parish/school database, especially ParishSoft, software a plusProficiency in computer and web skillsCurrent and broad knowledge of mission advancement, school admissions, and marketing trends and methodsResponsibilities include but are not limited to-Fostering a Christ-centered, Catholic Culture: Vision and Mission-Work with parish and school leadership to design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive vision for parish culture that will inspire current parish and school constituents to ongoing conversion, as well as attract new members to the parish and new students to the school.Help Pastor to foster a spirit of unity, community, mission, evangelization, and service that is fueled by a deep and well-formed Catholic identity.Recruit, train, lead, and inspire volunteers to assist with the difficult work of implementation and maintenance of the parish's culture.-Development-Develop overall fundraising and advancement strategy each year in coordination with the Pastor.Promote and foster a culture of generous philanthropy and stewardship among parish and school leadership, staff, and other stakeholders.Manage a portfolio of at least 50 major gift prospects in active cultivation/solicitation.Manage resources to maintain a viable constituent database overseeing donor and prospect records.Effectively carry out campaign fundraising as needed.Provide support to sustain groups and associations, such as an Alumni Association, that supports the Development function.Establish and grow relationships with new and existing parish and school families, benefactors, and the broader Louisville community.-Communication and Branding-Promote and foster a culture and system of healthy and effective internal and external communication among parish and school leadership, staff, and other stakeholders. This will necessarily involve the effective leveraging and leading of dedicated, Spirit-filled volunteers.Help to develop and foster a strong brand within the parish's geographic area.Represent and advance the mission of St. John Paul II Parish and Academy at parochial, school, archdiocesan, and community functions.Help to develop a strategy and create resources to effectively market both parish and school to current stakeholders, as well as to new audiences through web, social media, and programming with the primary goals of increasing the number of parish families, Mass attendance rates, and school students.Provide assistance and guidance on all public outreach events.Working for the Catholic ChurchEmployment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese of Louisville, such that it can embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. This position requires that the employee be a practicing Roman Catholic.Key InformationReports to: PastorStatus: Exempt, 40+ hours per week, available for evening meetings and occasional urgent calls outside normal business hours; local travel expectedSalary and compensationCommensurate with experience.
