AWP is a one-of-a-kind local program dedicated to bringing yoga and mindfulness, personal training, outdoor services, nutrition services, physical therapy, peer support, art therapy, and music therapy to the Milwaukee community, with a particular focus on serving individuals in mental health recovery and people with disabilities. Our nonprofit, Ascent for Life, Inc., houses our Community Program, offering on-site wellness services at pay-what-you-wish rates for those without access to other sources of funding.

Nonprofit Director/Board President is a part-time hybrid (in-office and remote) position responsible for organization, planning, oversight, and implementation of the activities and programs specific to the nonprofit and its Board of Directors.
Compensation and hours: Approx. 5-10 hours per week paid @ $15/hour to start.
Essential duties include:
Responsible for planning, organization, and direction of the organization's operations and programs. Coordinates agendas and other materials for Board meetings and conference calls. Attends and facilitates in-person Board meetings. Attends and facilitates committee conference calls. Oversees committee infrastructure and activities. Oversees and reports on the organization's results for the board of directors, including implementation of strategic goals. Prepares accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate fundraising results, variances, and performance trends. Collaborates with the Executive Director to share ideas and make recommendations for annual budget reviews, monthly and quarterly reviews, and periodic forecast updates. Organizes a hiring committee to support recruitment and hiring of a diverse, highly qualified staff and volunteers. Ensures that services and funding relationships are robust enough to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives. Research grants and funding opportunities, build community partnerships, network for funding. Provide consultation and direct assistance with developing and implementing programs, including delegation of tasks to appropriate team members. Required skills and abilities:
Demonstrate awareness of, and adherence to, AWP principles and values. Proficient with basic computer software such as Google suite apps, spreadsheets, word processing, and databases systems. Time management and organizational skills. Advanced networking and customer service skills. Professional-quality writing and communication skills. Passion for the mission! Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Desired education and experience:
