Designer/Drafter

Job description
Summary
Produces and details routine drawings/layouts of basic components, facilities and/or systems. Generates and/or modifies two-dimensional drawings based on information from others. Develops basic computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and design models under the direction of a senior designer.
Education
Position typically requires a high school diploma and a minimum one-to-two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired Job Requirements:
Mechanical Design Experience
Experience designing mechanical hardware assemblies and applying engineering concepts to mechanical designs. Working knowledge of ASME Y series design/drafting standards, including Y14.5M Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Experience with Creo Parametric 3D CAD Software.
Manufacturing Experience
Knowledge of hardware fabrication processes.
Communication and Teamwork
Demonstrated effective and efficient written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated record of developing constructive, cooperative working relationships and working with teams to meet deliverables.
Education/Experience
An Associates of Science degree in design/drafting or engineering practices, or equivalent work experience and directly applicable mechanical design experience.
Demonstrated experience with CREO and PDMLink Product Lifecycle Management Software.
Demonstrated mechanical design experience with the weapons program.
Experience with ASME Y14.41 Digital Product Definition Data Packages and annotated models.
Experience with practices and procedures used in the Nuclear Security Enterprise for conveying design intent to other national laboratories and production plants.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
