The Customs Classification Engineer is a member of Global Classification Center of Excellence (CoE) team, consisting of in-house product classification experts. This position reports to the Global Classification CoE Global Lead (Tax & Customs). Taking advantage of her/his engineering background the Customs Classification Engineer is responsible to define the Customs classification code of all SE products ranges.
The classification role is essential to guarantee SE's compliance in cross-border transactions but also to provide secure data to our customers.
The job location is in Poland (SE locations) with some potential business trips. Main mission
Be accountable for Customs classification for commercial references products, collecting and analyzing technical data from LoB products experts and uploading into SE global customs automated trade tool database.
• Review existing product Customs classifications in SE global database to ensure data accuracy, identify potential duty optimization and risk mitigation measures.
• Prepare defending position and arguments to be provided to Customs Authorities in case of audit or any classification inquiries/disputes.
• Monitor global and country legislation related to product Customs classification, and update / amend accordingly product classification in SE global database.
• Prepare periodic reports & metrics to monitor the customs classification database robustness.
• Support on other Customs classification-related projects. Competencies
• Electrical Engineer profile having a good overview of SE products offer and their functionalities.
• Strong analytics on power electronics and electrical components.
• Review / comprehend technical specifications, drawings, product Bill of Material
• Understanding of engineering concepts, such as IoT, communication protocols, automation, electrical magnitudes, etc.
• Work in multi-cultural corporate business setting.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communications. Main contacts
• Outside Group: Customs Administrations, Customs Brokers, Consultant parties and vendors.
• Within the Group: Global supply chain (logistic project leaders, purchaser team, sales order management operators or managers, contract manager/leader, transportation leader/coordinator, etc ...); Product Engineers of the different Business Units, Export Control organization, Customs & Trade Compliance Zone managers, Customs & Trade Compliance Directors, Masterdata, Data analytics and Innovation Teams. What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
• Minimum 4 years in Technical Engineering fields with particular focus on product management.
• Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management with a technical background.
• Graduate of Electronic and/or Electrical Engineering course.
• Advanced skills with MS Office with particular focus on Excel and Access.
