Division of Gaming: Ensures that limited gaming is conducted honestly, fairly, and competitively, and is free from criminal and corrupt elements.
What we do: Sports Betting/Fantasy Sports unit ensures honesty and integrity in the sports betting and fantasy sports industry, through equal parts of education, compliance, and enforcement. The work unit ensures the physical and logistical security of sports wagering on-line and in off-site Sports Betting areas.
A typical day in the life of an Agent in Charge:  Oversees and leads all investigative, regulatory, suitability, and compliance activities and investigations of the work unit to advise other investigators in the field offices about securities laws and about what information can, and should be, sought from an applicant or any other source. Plans, trains, directs, and supervises subordinate employees who perform these listed duties and all Investigative duties of the work unit.  Performs these duties personally and any other duties as assigned by Division leadership.  
Primary Duties: Administration, Management, and Supervision 
Manages and responds to verbal and written inquiries concerning Sports Betting and Fantasy Contest laws, regulations, and licensing. Supervises/Manages day-to-day activities of Sports Betting, Cyber and Fantasy Contest investigations, manages, promotes, and facilitates Field Training Officer/Investigator Program for the Sports Betting Unit. Remains current on gaming statutes, regulations, and ICMPs, criminal and civil statutory law and case law, gaming technologies, and business and investment practices which affect Sports Betting. Background Investigations
Plans, trains, directs, and supervises subordinate employees who perform these listed duties and all Investigative duties of the work unit. Also performs these duties personally and any other duties as assigned by Division leadership. Oversees and leads all investigative, regulatory, suitability, and compliance activities and investigations of the work unit. Manages all aspects of all investigation processes and presents findings to the Colorado Limited Gaming Commission or their designees.  Criminal and Regulatory Investigations and Enforcement
Determines the need for, collects and analyzes data and evidence to ascertain if enough probable cause exists to pursue misdemeanor or felony case filings. Oversees and leads all aspects of Criminal investigations. Regulatory, and Enforcement Investigations in the Sports Betting Unit and makes recommendations to staff and Division leadership. Interacts with industry stakeholders, other agencies, and the public to provide regulatory and copliance guidance and education. Residency Requirement: (New)

Class Code & Classification Description: (New) A2A4XX CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR III Minimum Qualifications Education Experience: Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Police Science, Law Enforcement, Law or a closely related field as determined by the Department.
AND  Three (3) years of professional investigative experience appropriate to the position. * Required to maintain and have a valid Colorado P.O.S.T. Certification at the time of application.
Substitutions:
Appropriate Criminal Investigative experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. NOTE: If submitting a transcript, certification or other relevant materials, candidates may redact information that identifies their age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution. Necessary Special Requirements: Applicants must successfully pass a background investigation and a tax check prior to appointment to positions in the Gaming Division.
Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license (at the time of application). 
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.
Must pass a pre-employment Physical and Psychological evaluation. 
Applicants must be willing to work nights, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and maintain on-call status while off-duty for emergency and supervisory response. 
Maintains proficiency and qualification with firearms and other defensive equipment assigned and as required by Colorado P.O.S.T.
Attends all DOR compliance training modules. 
Certify and maintain certification in arrest control techniques. 
Applicants must be willing and able to perform heavy lifting, carrying, or otherwise moving objects, occasionally up to 100 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Colorado rules and regulations related to Division of
Gaming.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability to plan and organize.
Proven success organizing and tracking workload.
Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to complete reports in a thorough, accurate and concise manner. 
Proven ability to work independently and accept supervision.
Experience with rule making processes.
Experience supervising administrative investigations in a regulated environment. 
Supervisory experience.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficiency in Google Suite.
Conditions of Employment with the  CDOR : Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence. 
As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
