COORDINATOR/COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY CLERKSHIP Position Number: S-3300 Position Summary: The Comprehensive Community Clerkship (CCC) Coordinator collaborates with the Clerkship Director to administer a primary care clinical clerkship for medical students across various Michigan communities, emphasizing patient care skills and medical decision making. These sites are predominately situated in rural and underserved communities across the state. The Coordinators primary responsibility is to assist and advise the Clerkship Director in managing all aspects of the clerkship. The Coordinator assists the Director in the development, implementation, and overall administration of the program. The Clerkship Coordinator acts as a student advisor, advocate, and policy expert for the clerkship. This position provides support for academic and scholarly leadership through production, engagement, and networking with regional and national longitudinal integrated clerkship experts and scholars.


Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree and three years of professional administrative experience with increasing responsibility, or combination of education and experience that equates to seven years.
Must be able to work primarily on the Saginaw campus, with frequent travel to CCC communities.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with all levels of personnel, both internal and external to the university.
Excellent written communication skills.
Proven time management and organizational skills; must demonstrate the ability to prioritize multiple and/or competing tasks and accurately complete tasks independently.
Demonstrated proficiency in report development.
Excellent technical skills (computers and other office machines).
Demonstrated independent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
Ability to exhibit professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
Basic understanding of medical and adult education.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the implementation of medical student education programs.


Duties & Responsibilities: Demonstrates a commitment to diversity by working to develop a culture of inclusion and mutual respect. Manages updates to syllabi and handbooks for faculty and students.
Maintains knowledge of LCME requirements and manages the appropriate databases to fulfill these requirements.
Coordinates CCC clinical examination, proctors National Board of Medical Examiners Subject Examination, assists in the preparation of department sponsored quizzes, and prepares schedule for didactics.
Assists the Director in setting grading policies and reinforcing policies with students and administration when issues arise.
Assists in building and maintaining relationships with clinical site administration.
Prepares evaluation summaries and schedules for each student and manages the student grading database.
Coordinates student credentialing for clinical sites and ensures compliance with site-specific credential requirements.
Tracks and disseminates final grades to students, the Assistant Registrar and other applicable College of Medicine offices.
Acts as a liaison, coordinating efforts between the CCC Director and various departments of the college including but not limited to: the year 3 & 4 committee, the Office of Medical Evaluation within CMED, the Assistant Registrar, and the Office of Student Affairs.
Assists in recruiting new teaching faculty and practice sites.
Communicates regularly with office staff and CCC faculty.
Administers the clerkship policy and advises affiliated faculty and staff on policy language and requirements.
Coordinates and assembles agendas, prepares materials, and participates in bi-weekly clerkship meetings.
Prepares yearly performance reports.
Regularly visits teaching sites to provide education and faculty development.
Works with the Associate Dean for Clinical Education and the CCC Director to identify faculty development program needs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
