This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within the area of materials science with an emphasis on materials that are applied in the nuclear industry.The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but qualified remote (US based) candidates will be considered.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesRecognized technical expert in the field of materials science.Provides consultation to management, all design organizations, and supplier organizations.Remains cognizant of state-of-the-art in the area of materials scienceProvides technical leadership in design reviews, task force, industrial committees, and design boards as necessary. Works closely with the Chief Consulting Engineer for Mechanical Design.Provide technical consultation to assigned organization and to other internal and supplier engineering and manufacturing organizations.Enhance technical excellence in assigned design organizations.Identify and recommend where improvements in knowledge of the specific discipline are needed or where technical training is needed.Establish a total quality management strategy to assure early involvement on manufacturingprocess/producibilitymatters.Provide leadership to help focus and integrate new technology smoothly into production.Suggest areas where technology advancements are needed and recommend approaches/programs to pursue.Lead/support study teams to address top problems within the organization or projects in focused technical areas.Consult with and support the Chief Engineer's Office in the execution of technical goals of the office.Provide strong technical mentorship for broad organizational teams in the area of material scienceBasic QualificationsBachelor of Science in Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or NuclearAt least 10 additional years of experience in an engineering capacityEligibility Requirements:The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.Desired CharacteristicsAdvanced degree in in Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or NuclearRecognized technical expert in BWR Plant structural materials, selection, processing, BWR/PWR material degradation, and testingWorking knowledge of ASME code materials, requirements, and applicationsStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsLeadership to pursue correct engineering process in adverse conditionsAble to interface effectively with all levels of the organizationProblem solving skills; Lean training/experience is preferredThe salary range for this position is $150k-209k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
