Child & Family Studies (CFS) is one of seven departments andschools within the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences (CBCS) at the University of South Florida (USF). Organized into three researchdivisions and four academic programs that work synergistically, CFS currently has approximately 275 faculty and staff members. During FY23,CFS is managing a portfolio of over 75 federal and non-federal contracts and grants totaling $78 million. Our research divisions include theFlorida Center for Inclusive Communities (FCIC), Child and Family Behavioral Health (CFBH), and the Rightpath Research and InnovationCenter. CFS's four academic programs are Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health (CABH), ClinicalRehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling (CRMHC), and Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). Six graduate certificates and one undergraduatecertificate are also offered.
CFS efforts are consistent with the CBCS mission of combining knowledge gained through the behavioralsciences with knowledge gained from the community. CFS faculty, staff, and students, who are well immersed in the local community as well asstate and national efforts, are deeply connected to the college's focus of Creating Healthy Communities. POSITIONSUMMARY:
This position will serve as a Home Visitor with the Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngers (HIPPY) in theDepartment of Child and Family Studies, Florida Center for Inclusive Communities. This position will go into the community and locate andrecruit parents of preschool children as potential clients; deliver program services during weekly home visits; conduct assessments onchildren and parents; develops individualized service plans for children to help them reach developmental milestones; Disseminate poisoncontrol tips and strategies to families; and serve as a HIPPY team member to assist with program development. The incumbent in this positionshould be willing to work with families of children with special needs. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct weekly homevisits to assigned clients to explain, instruct, demonstrate and review appropriate school readiness activities
Develop and trackindividualized service plans for assigned children to help them reach developmental milestones.
Participate in 6-8 hours of curriculainstruction and staff development trainings each week.
Participate in monthly family engagement meetings with clients, other programparticipants and staff. Prepare and lead an interactive activity each month related to Science, Technology, Engineering Arts or Mathematicsfor families.
Complete weekly reports: Individual client reports, progress reports, curriculum requests, assessment requests andmaintain a sampling of clients' work in files. Complete monthly mileage reports.
Disseminate poison control tips and strategies tofamilies.
Participate in all regular HIPPY sponsored activities and perform other related duties as assigned.
Administer preand post child and parent assessments, surveys, and tests for evaluation and research activities POSITIONQUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with three years experience in office,administrative, or customer services positions. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at anequivalent rate for the required experience. PREFERRED: Preferred Qualifications: Has experience working in a HIPPYprogram, be a current/former Parent in the HIPPY Program or have regular access to a three or four-year old child to practice weekly HIPPYactivities; Good oral and written communication skills and reliable transportation.
