Full job description WHO WE ARE Temple B'nai Sholom is a Reform Jewish congregation located in downtown Huntsville, and spiritual home to approximately 140 Jewish families. In 2023, we welcomed Rabbi PJ Schwartz as our spiritual leader, and since his arrival, we have increased membership, programming, and the need to welcome a new staff member to our team. We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and collaborative individual to join us as our Communication and Program Associate.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Providing excellent communications services to support Temple activities. Collaborate with Temple Administrator and Rabbi to draft social media content. Assist in overseeing various other communication platforms, including emails and website content. Assist with producing monthly publications, gathering necessary materials, and ensuring a holistic approach to content, design and layout. Take photos and manage photo archives. Assist with developing video projects. Bring industry standards and best practices from the field to the Temple, including reviewing for grammar and tone, ensuring the consistent, dynamic, and warm voice that reflects the organization's essence aligns seamlessly with its goals and vision. Additional Qualifications We are open to welcoming those individuals studying in school in the above fields and are seeking meaningful entry-level experience. Bachelor's degree, specifically in a related field: digital marketing, communications, etc. and 2+ years experience. Use of personal computer, laptop, or tablet desired. Extremely strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with high standards and principles regarding brand integrity and accuracy. Expert in Microsoft Office products. Experience in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is a plus. CRM website content and data management experience is a plus. Strong project manager and team player who collaborates well with peers, high-level volunteers, and senior management. SALARY AND BENEFITS This is a part-time position of 20-25 hours/week reporting to the Rabbi and Temple Administrator. The Communications and Program Associate will be expected to be on site at the synagogue at least twice a week during office hours of 9:00am-1:00pm, with the flexibility of also working from home the remainder of the week. Salary is calculated at an hourly rate, scaled depending on experience. The Communications and Program Associate is not responsible for working on all Federal Holidays when the Temple office is closed, and will receive five (5) days of vacation, corresponding to a five (5) day work week per calendar year, and two (2) additional days of PTO. The Communications and Program Associate is welcome to attend all facets of programming at Temple B'nai Sholom, including services, social events, dinners, etc. at no cost.
