The Beeck Center is seeking to recruit a Communications Analyst to work alongside the Director of Communications, Jessica Yabsley and Storyteller-in Residence, Ashleigh Fryer.
The Communications Analyst will help communicate and amplify the work taking place across our portfolio, which spans four different projects led by expert fellows who conduct leading-edge research and convene individuals and organizations across the public interest technology space to collaborate on solutions and build a broader sense of community.
In this role, the Communications Analyst will have the opportunity to hone their digital communication skills by drafting and editing a variety of written content, gain experience conducting interviews with fellows and other thought leaders in the field, and support broader team work through strategy and editorial input with the Beeck Comms team.

The Communications Analyst will report to Jessica Yabsley , Director of Communications, and work with Ashleigh Fryer , Deputy Director of Content, fellows, student analysts, cross-functional staff members, as well as various members of Beeck Center project teams. Work Mode Designation
This position has been designated as Hybrid . Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. With the hybrid designation, the Communications Analyst will be expected to work from the Beeck Center's two office spaces in Washington, D.C.: one on Georgetown University's Main Campus and a second downtown on Georgetown's Capitol Campus on an average of 2 days a week. We prioritize spending time in person with our student analysts for collaboration and career development as well as building relations across the various other centers on campus.
The Beeck Center operates as a distributed team, with some team members working remotely and others working in-person in our Washington, D.C. offices. A distributed team means there will be heavy reliance on asynchronous communication channels such as Slack, Asana, and email while also having many meetings fully virtual or hybrid to include remote employees, using Zoom. Employment Term
The Communications Analyst is a full-time (40 hours), 11-week position. Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, or similar degree [comparable work experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree] Highly motivated and accountable, with strong teamwork and collaboration skills The ability to learn quickly and approach projects of any size with confidence Strong attention to detail Strong writing and editing skills Ability to balance competing priorities and communicate changes in capacity and availability in a timely manner Discretion, maturity, and confidential management of all incidental information acquired on the job Openness to learning project management and communication software including Slack, Airtable, and Asana Creative and agile thinking in unstructured contexts A growth mind-set and openness to learning Preferred Qualifications Research experience, strong analytical and critical thinking skills Familiarity with Airtable or similar tools for data management Comfortable with a start-up work environment Striving to tackle social challenges greater than yourself An understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the social sector Knowledge of ongoing efforts in public interest technology, policy innovation, public service delivery, and data for social good


The expected pay range for this position is $17.00 to $22.00 per hour.


Georgetown University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity and external market pay for comparable jobs.
