Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary This position assists investigators as coordinator of a complex clinical research study; may be responsible for multiple research studies simultaneously; acts as a liaison between the Knight Alzheimer Disease Research Center, the study participants and their study partners; is responsible for managing and documenting all phases of the lumbar puncture portion of the study protocol. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Enrolls study participants for lumbar puncture procedures; makes and/or participates in making determinations of eligibility based on diagnostic criteria and/or observations/analysis in participant's health information; develops informed consent packets for study participants and confers with participants to explain purpose of study and obtain completed informed consent packets; explains diagnostic procedures and treatment plans to address participant/family concerns. Implements and manages all phases of the lumbar puncture protocol; ensures compliance with protocol guidelines and requirements of regulatory agencies and the study's IRB; establishes and maintains record-keeping systems; makes assessments and determinations of participants' progress in the study; analyzes, investigates, and reports adverse events; makes decisions as when to notify physicians of issues, when to stop participant inclusion, or recommend adjustment of the protocol; resolves IRB/protocol management issues and recommends corrective action as appropriate. Coordinates the development of forms, questionnaires and the application of research techniques; assists in data collection and coding; reviews journals, abstracts and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments and to obtain information regarding previous studies to aid in the planning of new studies. Routinely ensures timely completion of the lumbar puncture portion of the study protocol including scheduling and facilitating the patient's timely completion of protocol requirements; records steps of LP scheduling/completion; prepares presentations or reports and analyses on progress trends. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Physically able to walk long distances while carrying up to 10 lbs. of samples and supplies.
Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of computer programs and systems, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and RedCap. Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Minimum of two years of clinical research experience. A combination of relevant work and college education equaling six years may substitute for this requirement. REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Basic Life Support certification (Online Basic Life Support certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the Basic Life Support requirements). Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date. Grade C10 Salary Range $51,600.00 - $77,400.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
