Job summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a member of the senior management team responsible for financial decision-making processes.The CFO provides strategic oversight, coordination, and management of all facility financial matters.Works closely with the CEO and COO to assess and support performance from a financial perspective.
Responsibilities
• Assists in developing long and short-range strategic plans.• Prepares and presents financial statements to the governing board.• Develops operational and capital budgets and reviews actual performance against approved budgets.• Manages receivables and patient financial services.• Consults and negotiates with third-party payers.• Administers cash management, investment portfolio management, debt financing, and insurance programs.• Provides leadership in revenue cycle, billing, and collections services.• Negotiates third party reimbursement contracts.• Selects and supports financial auditors and similar experts.• Directs financial planning, accounting practices, and relationships with lending institutions.• Oversees treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, and insurance activities.• Maintains proper records and account controls.• Develops and enforces organizational policies and procedures.• Issues periodic financial and operating reports.• Analyzes cost accounting procedures and other routine reports.• Develops and implements goals, objectives, and plans.• Ensures financial regulatory and compliance requirements are met.• Provides financial expertise in planning new services.• Manages costs in collaboration with other executives.• Performs other related work as required or requested.
Requirements
• Master's degree in Accounting or Finance required.• Minimum 1 year of financial/accounting managerial experience in an acute-care environment.• Knowledge of Critical Access Hospitals is a plus.• Experience with revenue cycle and cash flow forecasting required.• Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills required.• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships required.• Ability to maintain confidentiality required.
