CATS INSTRUCTOR for C larksville Career and Technical School (CATS) – Clarksville High School
Starting Date for Instructor: July 1, 2022
Contract: 240 Day
Salary: Based on experience and level of education.

Job Description: Instructor Preferences (Exceptions will be considered)
Licensed by the Arkansas Department of Education to teach agriculture, industrial, engineering, construction education, or related field. Certificate and/or diploma completion in related field may waive teaching licensure. Five or more years of successful experience in agriculture and/or industrial maintenance. Ability to work with others by possessing and utilizing well developed skills in communication, listening, collaboration, adaptability, empathy, and patience.
The instructor will work with the CATS director to supervise and coordinate all instructional activities to support each participant in achieving a higher level of personal skill, in gaining an enhanced appreciation for the workplace, and in attaining an increased level of self-esteem through activities and performance assessments.

Specific Job Duties/Requirements:
Be trained in most of the following areas of instruction: OSHA, drive motor controls, PLC and CNC machine operation, hydraulics, pneumatics, GMAW/MIG/TIG/Oxy fuel hot metal process, electrical installation, electronic systems, measurement, and calibration of equipment, print reading, drafting/CAD, tool fitting, machining, HVAC, and boiler operation. Attend and receive training in areas of instruction Maintain and keep records of inventory, budget, district assets used in program. Have CDL w/ S-endorsement and air brakes or be willing and able get CDL w/ S-Endorsement and air brakes, to transport students by bus to competitions, tours, and field trips. Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Be responsible for the upkeep and service of all inventories, including equipment and machinery in the program Adhere to the district's safety policies and procedures. Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance. Be an active and supportive contributor to district and school academic initiatives. Collaborate with Agriculture Department and other Vocational Departments. Coordinate with the Director for the purchase of all necessary equipment and supplies and seek out donated consumables and related machinery. Instruct students in the areas of job skills to assist them in applying and interviewing for a position. Foster and model the abilities needed to be employed in the field. Participate in on-going training to enhance professional skills and acquire knowledge of the most current methods and techniques. Bring trained guest speakers in areas of expertise into instruction and training of students. Search out and identify skills and certifications that make students more marketable. Operate a variety of tractors, equipment, machinery, and equipment in a safe manner. Have, or be willing to train to receive, NCCER Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Craft skill endorsement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of classroom management, teaching strategies, performance assessments, and motivating young people. Knowledge of industrial maintenance fields and workplace culture. Establish and maintain open communication with all stakeholders through a variety of interpersonal, verbal, written, and technological mediums. Collaborate with colleagues and administrators for the greater good. Maintain confidentiality; perform job functions with trust, integrity, courtesy, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence. Adapt to the culture and expectations of the School District and work as part of a team. Maintain a positive and safe work environment. Manage a budget and meet the physical demands of teaching modules. Skill in recruiting and retaining students, build positive relationships with community, parents, students, teachers, business partners, and administrators. Knowledge of lock out/tag out, confined space permits, work orders, hot work permits, SDS, just in time, risk assessment, fall restraint, LEAN concepts, and other related functions
