The Business Systems Consultant plays a crucial role in the overall BTS Digital Solutions and Services organization by ensuring the last mile delivery of Business requirements. This role requires the development of a deep understanding of the functionalities and capabilities of the underlying engineering platforms. Then use that knowledge to translate business requirements (Epics) into engineering focused stories and tasks, drive the development PODs end-to-end, and track and report on Engineering KPIs for the Pod.
In this role you will be responsible for: Managing & leading a dedicated mid-sized engineering team responsible for specific therapeutic area. Representing the Engineering team in discussions with Program, Lab, and/or Marketing Agency teams or when providing product development related updates. Managing the Engineering pod's product backlog in alignment with Program level epics. Managing & forecasting team's capacity & financials reporting on a regular basis to ensure delivery continuity. Conducting story grooming sessions with the Program and Engineering teams and helping break Epics into "implementable and sized" stories and tasks to prepare for upcoming Sprints. Conducting Sprint Planning meetings with the Program and Engineering teams to lock down Sprint scope and schedule. Identifying re-use opportunities, suggesting MVP solutions for the underlying product, and streamlining overall process around Engineering pod's execution. Providing hands on demos to stakeholders for features and solutions built as part of Release Demos. Participating in agile ceremonies set up by Scrum Master's including – DSU's, Sprint Demo, and Sprint Retrospective. Accountable for tracking and reporting Engineering KPIs and using them to drive changes and improvements within the pod. Maintaining and providing sprints, forecasts, and roadmaps to project team's capacity and WIP limits. Proactively reaching out to needed functions and teams to keep the current Sprint unblocked. Communicating risks early and upfront to Program teams to avoid escalations. Moving a project forward with less than perfect information. Compliance with applicable AbbVie Policies and procedures. Working with minimal oversight and ensuring that deliverables and relationships are monitored through periodic reviews. Qualifications Experience that makes you a strong candidate for this role: Required: Bachelor's Degree with 7 years' experience; Master's Degree with 6 years' experience; PhD with 0 years' experience. Hands on experience with Agile concepts, Iterative Software development (MVP mindset), Scrum and Kanban modes of product development. Hands on expertise with JIRA, Confluence and Smartsheet. General knowledge of digital and web applications including key components like HTML, JS, or CSS. Knowledge of web application development phases and lifecycle as applicable to a Content Management System (CMS), Web Analytics and Personalization platforms such as – Creative development, UI Design, Backend development, Deployments, Content Authoring, Analytics, Tagging, Integration, and Content Personalization. Knowledge of SDLC phases and general entry and exit criteria across those phases like Stories groomed, Dev complete, Test complete, deployment checklists, Operations handoff, etc. Proven ability to build trust, listen, ask effective questions, and influence stakeholders with the goal of driving the team towards solutions. Beneficial: Any coding/development or creative (UX) development background around web technologies and/or CMS systems like Adobe Experience Manager, HTML, JAVA, JS, CSS, Figma/XD – although not required but will add additional weightage. Ability to self-manage time and priorities.
