Business Specialist III Location: Boise Division/College: College of Art & Architecture Employee Category: Classified Pay Range: $25.00 per hour or higher commensurate with experience FTE: 1.0 Full/Part Time: Full Time Position Summary:
Responsible for providing complex technical support for daily financial operations by performing a variety of tasks following policies and procedures. In addition to processing a variety of financial transactions and maintaining records, the position compiles data and generates routine and ad hoc financial reports.Duties may include:
Purchasing identified goods and servicesSubmitting invoices and receipts for paymentAccepting and recording paymentsReconciling purchasing card statementsProcessing travel claims and reimbursementsTracking transactions through completion in the centralized financial systemFiling and maintaining unit-level finance documentsOriginating personnel actions and processing corrections to pay in the centralized financial systemDeveloping, compiling, and summarizing data for routine reports and ad hoc financial management reportsResearching and correcting discrepancies or errorsProviding assistance to departments on questions related to invoices, receipts, financial reports and other transactionsResearching, analyzing, and making recommendations for management decision makingServing as departmental grant administrator, assisting principal investigator with pre- and post-award financial activities. May participate in budget development and compilation and submission of proposals and project reportsOther duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalentThree years providing financial processing support within an electronic finance systemUsing spreadsheet software to compile, summarize, analyze, and report on financial dataInterpreting and applying financial stewardship policies, procedures, rules and regulations Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or four years' experience as an administrative professional.Banner training and experience in Finance and Human Resources modules.Experience with higher education academic rules, regulations, policies, procedures, curriculum, and graduation requirements.Knowledge of office management, supervision, financial record keepingmethods, and information management practices, computer applications for example: Word, Excel, Banner, Web Applications, planning and scheduling processes.Knowledge of University of Idaho policies and procedures which include, butt are not limited to, budgeting, accounting, course offerings, registration procedures, and fee processing procedures.Experience: working independently in project completion, working effectively and efficiently in a multi-tasking environment, applying discretionary decision-making techniques, demonstrating flexibility, utilizing conflict resolution skills and maintaining confidentiality, working with individuals from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
