General Description: Responsible for operating CNC burning machines to complete customer orders per work orders, drawings, etc, and in accordance with the company-wide QC program.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Reads, interprets and clearly understands work order specifications and sets up machines to produce material that meets quality and customer expectations. Communicates with foreman to ensure a complete understanding of all information. Sets up machines to optimize production efficiency and material yield without sacrificing quality. Performs and documents routine machine maintenance in accordance with the preventive maintenance plan and in coordination and communication with maintenance mechanic. Communicates with supervisor to ensure a steady flow of material is available to enable continuous production and minimal down time and performs a quick transition from job to job. Serves as primary quality inspector and performs QC responsibilities consistent with the EKSP Quality Control program and QC manual. Uses basic measuring tools to maintain quality standards on each order. Completes production documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Moves raw material, work in process and finished goods into bins to be cleaned and actively participates in cleaning activities as time allows. Communicates with supervisor to ensure adequate labor is provided to maintain work flow. Communicates all pertinent job-related information to foreman on a daily basis. Reports any problems or quality concerns to supervisor immediately. Other related duties as assigned. Skills: Above average knowledge and expertise of his/her designated work center and the ability to perform basic machine programming, trouble shooting and setup. Basic reading and mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) Ability to lift up to 75 pounds Ability to lift, bend, stoop, squat, stand or walk for extended periods of time Good oral & written communication skills Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others Expectations: Conduct job duties in a safe and efficient manner. Abide by all safety policies and guideline. Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times. Use any available time to clean work area and ensure all debris is disposed of properly. Promptly report any accidents, incidents, near misses or hazardous conditions to your supervisor Familiarity with all EKSP forms, documents, reports related to your job function, including but not limited to forms and reports related to inventory, logistics, & production/operations departments Maintain neat and accurate written production documentation as required Communicate all pertinent job related information to supervisor/manager on a daily basis Forward-thinking while learning from errors, with focus on quality and customer service, solutions and continual improvements Focus on efficiencies and time- and labor-saving steps; cost reduction; increased profitability Performs all duties as assigned Education/Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

As a steel service center and distributor of hot-rolled prime and non-prime steel plate, Eddie Kane Steel sells on- and off-gauge, pattern and non-pattern plate sizes, ranging in thickness from 3/16 to 8 inches. Eddie Kane Steel maintains a diverse inventory of prime and non-prime steel plate and, for its strategic customer partners, stock inventory of custom-made parts. Value-added products include OEM parts, counterweights, and steel burn outs for diverse industries, including the waste industry, general building construction, transportation, agricultural and industrial equipment, drilling, theatrical stage, and elevator industries.
Eddie Kane Steel's flagship processing facility in Ohio (180,000 square-foot warehouse and production plant) has a crane capacity up to 100 tons and has full rail access. The North Carolina and California facilities are also fully served by rail.
Eddie Kane Steel's processing capabilities include high-definition plasma and oxy-fuel flame cutting, shearing, bending, drilling, punching, welding, beveling, Blanchard grinding, stress relieving, and light machining. With two plasma burning machines (including high-definition plasma machines), plate thicknesses up to 14 inches can be cut. Our oxy-fuel cutting capabilities include several multi-torch multi-head machines with several hundred feet of cutting surface. Through close partnerships with vendors offering proven high-quality workmanship, we provide services such as painting and coating, stamping, embossing, slitting, sawing, turning, annealing, leveling, and pressing.
