Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Billing and Insurance Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be pivotal in managing the billing process, ensuring the accuracy of insurance information, and assisting with the resolution of claim issues. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is keen on facilitating effective billing operations to maximize revenue flow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor workflow dashboards to review and adjust claims to optimize the billing process.
- Liaise with healthcare facilities to gather necessary prior authorization information and consent forms.
- Proactively identify and address issues that may delay the insurance billing or payment processes.
- Ensure that insurance details entered by registration staff are accurate and complete, making corrections as needed.
- Assist the team by entering data related to registration and charges, and verifying insurance eligibility and benefits when required.
- Stay updated with changes in laws and regulations that impact the collection of receivables.
- Provide support regarding policies, procedures, and the use of our practice management system, including escalating issues as needed for further attention.
Qualifications:
- Education: A High School diploma or a General Education Degree (GED) is required.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in handling insurance billing and account follow-up procedures. Experience in resolving claims denied by insurance carriers is essential. A good understanding of ICD9 and CPT coding is beneficial. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in general computer applications is necessary, including Microsoft Excel and experience with practice management systems. Keyboarding skills are also essential.
Physical Demands:
- The role requires significant reading, preparing, and analyzing of data and figures, primarily using a computer.
- Occasional physical activities may include climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and performing repetitive motions.
- The work environment typically involves general office or administrative settings, which are not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
