Large manufacturing site in Portland TN is looking for a strong Automation Controls Engineer. Looking for someone out of a fast paced industrial manufacturing environment. Need to be able to program PLCs and also work on projects with robotics.

To oversee all support, improve, develop, research and test electrical components, equipment and systems to support production needs.
Tasks:
· Maintain and improve all control systems;
· Design electrical control systems for new and retrofit press and manufacturing equipment;
· Assist in new machinery set-ups;
· Understand, support and program PLC programs;
· Program PLC's, HMI's and safety controllers from scratch;
· Evaluate and apply new technology as required;
· Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation and operational testing conforms to specifications and customer requirements;
· Troubleshoot controls and electrical devices;
· Update and document electrical prints
· Meet with management regularly to discuss problems with equipment and potential resolutions;
· Train plant Maintenance Technicians on the control systems and other programming equipment;
· Collect, monitor, and implement corrective actions for down time issues
Essential Duties:
· Read electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic prints;
· Understand and support robotic programming (FANUC) and understand and support motor drive configuration for servo variable frequency and DC systems;
· Specify ancillary robotic welding equipment;
· PLC programming and troubleshooting.
· Knowledge in safety controls
· Setting up new machinery to run with multiple software platforms
Qualifications/Technical Skills:
· Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or five years plus related experience and training; or and equivalent combination of education and experience
· Electrical print reading and repair knowledge
· PLC Programming
· Touchscreen HMI
· Microsoft Excel, Word
· Willingness to travel up to 50%
