Position Description The Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Washington (UW), School of Medicine, invites applications for a full-time Associate or Full Professor (without tenure by reason of funding) positions. Research in the Department of Radiation Oncology involves preclinical and clinical studies to address the need to improve clinical outcomes in cancer therapy. To achieve this, novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to radiation therapy in cancer patient treatment are imperative, as are collaborations with medical and basic scientists at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center to maximize translational research opportunities. Successful candidates will be expected to secure funding for their research.
Department Overview UW Medicine and its partner institutions (UWMC, Fred Hutch Cancer Center including its Proton Center, Seattle Children's Hospital, VA Puget Sound, Harborview Hospital) provide an extensive and outstanding array of radiation oncology modalities for cancer patients. The Department of Radiation Oncology treats over 2,800 patients annually from a multi-state region covering over 25% of the U.S. geographic area. The University of Washington has the only Radiation Oncology department in North America that has clinical particle beam delivery systems for both proton and neutron therapy. Our clinical approach is collaborative with numerous multidisciplinary clinics, tumor boards and disease specific chart rounds. We are a part of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and have strong translational and clinical research collaborations. The Department has 30 physicians, 10 advanced practice providers, 30 physicists, and 3 research faculty. Educational opportunities in our residency programs, fellowship programs and post-doctoral fellowships abound. The successful applicant will be expected to engage in research and education, as well as strong collaboration with the multidisciplinary clinical teams.

The base salary range for this position will be: $11,667 - $20,834 per month ($140,004 - $250,008 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Appointment Description The selected candidate will be proposed for appointment to the full-time faculty at the University of Washington as an Associate or Full Professor without tenure by reason of funding on the research faculty track with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024 or earlier. Associate and full professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Appointment rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Qualifications The successful candidate will have completed a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in physics or a related field.
