Position Function: The Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering (ABE) at Mississippi StateUniversity (MSU) invites applications for a tenure track, 9-month, assistant professor position in agricultural/biosystems engineering.Applicants should be clearly committed to excellence in teaching and be able to articulate a prospective research program that has promisefor sustainable external funding and national recognition. Candidates with experience and expertise in all areas of agricultural/biosystemsengineering will be considered, but strength in sensors, analytics, and mechatronics for autonomous systems and precision agriculture areparticularly desirable.

Department Profile: ABE has an energetic group of 18 on-campus faculty members engaged in teaching, research, and extension, as well as severalother faculty members at MSU-affiliated research centers and adjuncts employed elsewhere. We have a strong culture of mentoring juniorfaculty members to help them attain success. Our department is co-administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and theBagley College of Engineering, and it offers undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) degrees in three distinct program areas:Biomedical Engineering and Biosystems Engineering, which are both accredited by ABET, and Agricultural Engineering Technology and Business.Within these programs, the department has over 400 undergraduates and 40 graduate students. The department has ongoing collaborations withMSU's School of Veterinary Medicine, Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems, and several other centers, institutes, and departments. The J.Charles Lee Agricultural and Biological Engineering Building includes more than 6,000 square feet of state-of-the-art instructional andresearch facilities, and it includes separate labs for sterile tissue culture, biomechanical testing, environmental and agriculturalsimulation or modeling studies, electronic/robotic design fabrication and testing, GPS/GIS, renewable bioenergy, and student computingresources. Anticipated Appointment Date: August 16, 2024.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Candidateswill be expected to teach in the Biosystems Engineering (BSE) and Agricultural Engineering Technology and Business (AETB) curricula, conductresearch, and advise undergraduate and graduate students. They must establish a strong record of research, teaching, and service.
Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Agricultural or Biosystems Engineering or a closely related discipline, aswell as excellent verbal and writing skills, are required. Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, scholarlyproduction, and grantsmanship and should have the ability to conduct multi-disciplinary collaborative research.
ABDs ordegree pending considered (all but DISS): Yes. 
Preferred Qualifications: Previousexperience with instruction and course development. Previous experience with lower-level and upper-level courses. Previous experience within-person and online courses. Previous experience writing research proposals and manuscripts.
Knowledge, Skills, andAbilities: Candidates should have skills and abilities in teaching and mentoring students in the classroom and in aresearch environment.
