Position Summary: Assistant Pro Shop Managers/Assistant Golf Professionals are responsible for managing and supervising the golf operations while on duty. Daily activities include supporting the pro shop cashiers by assisting with golfer check in, retail purchase transactions, inventory procedures and retail display standards. They will work closely with the Outside Services Lead to ensure superior service and amenity standards are in place at all times. The Assistants are expected to step into any role within the golf operation when needed and is responsible for complete supervision of the operation in the absence of senior golf leadership. The Position Supervises: Big Cedar Golf, Golf Shop associates Big Cedar Golf, Golf Outside service associates Essential Functions: Work with senior golf management and associates to achieve both financial and experiential goals as set forth by the company Provide superior guest service through assisting guests with purchases, providing facility information and taking reservations Perform opening and closing duties for the operation Assists in overseeing the daily golf operations Participate in the recruitment, hiring and training of golf associates along with providing ongoing development for existing associates Work closely with the Outside Services Lead to ensure high quality service and amenity standards are being maintained Track and verify all players and guests, green fees, golf cars, club care, lockers, handicap fees, and other charges necessary, and facilitate accurate accounting and recordkeeping Oversee golf car fleet while ensuring proper maintenance and recordkeeping Document and communicate associate performance concerns to the Head Golf Professional in a timely manner Take ownership of all par stock level ordering for supplies and consumables Assists with the facilitation of golf groups Schedule staff and maintain associate records Supervise physical inventories, present a diverse and desirable array of golf equipment, apparel and accessories Supervise and train all golf shop staff to maximize sales opportunities Ensure evaluations and annual reviews are completed and recorded for all applicable staff Attend staff meetings as scheduled by leadership and schedule staff meetings with golf operations associates Update and maintain golf shop policies and procedures and job descriptions and ensure they are adhered to and posted in the proper areas Ensures all merchandise par levels are maintained Ensures golf shop is kept clean and organized Completes daily financial and rounds reporting as directed Perform player development and instructional programming as directed Perform regular inspections of the service and support areas to ensure all areas are being maintained in accordance of Big Cedar Golf and Big Cedar Lodge standards. Enforces policies of Big Cedar Golf and Big Cedar Lodge Maintain accurate records for the Pro Shop with special emphasis on spreadsheets, check register, bank status, etc. Adhere to all rules and regulations established in standard operation procedure manuals for Big Cedar Golf and BCL/Bass Pro Shops. Document and report all incidents related to guest dissatisfaction to the Head Golf Professional Document and report all accidents/injuries that occur during the execution of Pro Shop business or on Big Cedar Lodge property through Big Cedar Lodge Security. In the absence of the Head Golf Professional, responsible for resolving guest concerns to their fullest satisfaction possible In the absence of the Head Golf Professional, responsible for complete supervision of the golf operation Candidate Profile and Qualifications PGA Class A member preferred or PGA Apprentice enrolled in PGA/ PGM level 1 or above Previous experience with a golf facility operation College degree preferred Strong service skills Ability to work in fluid, evolving golf operation Staff supervision experience Strong interest in advancing career into a Head Golf Professional role Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in all weather conditions Skills and Knowledge Writing - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Basic Computer Skills - Using basic computer hardware and software (e.g., personal computers, word processing software, Internet browsers, etc.). Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Law and Government - Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules that apply to job (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ADA, CFC, NFPA, ASI). Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, transcription, designing forms and other office procedures and terminology. Analytical/Critical Thinking - The ability to gather and organize information using a logical and systematic process; recognize patterns and relationships in complex data; examine data to identify implications, problems and draw appropriate conclusions; generate alternative solutions to problems; evaluate strengths, weaknesses and consequences of alternative solutions and approaches to solving problems. Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
