Provides direction, inputs, and approvals inclusive of budget and schedule, for an attraction or attractions under an area of responsibility. This role is responsible for defining, developing, licensing, purchasing, integrating, testing, analyzing and/or delivering advanced technology for the next generation of Universal attractions and systems. To achieve these responsibilities, they are expected to perform technical writing, creating specifications, vendor selection, vendor management, coordination with internal and external teams, direction of project risk management/risk reduction activities and review of technical team performance. This creative technologist will identify disruptive innovation and be charged with the technical product delivery across attraction, projects and platforms.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Leads the technical process from conception to final release. Directs planning, budgeting, and design and implementation of applications, systems, and components in support of new Universal Creative work. Participate in all technical reviews for various teams for inputs and to provide guidance for areas of risk or scope gaps. Works with Engineering & Safety, Facility & Construction team and contractors to ensure a clear line of communication regarding installation, system integration, test, and adjust activities. Oversees and validates engineering analyses, development of technical documents, and technical decision making.Directs research, architect, concept and design systems, develop specifications and scope of work documentation that will be bid to vendors.Directs engineering quality of systems. Oversees team and vendors assigned to design, develop, install, and/or test integration scopes for systems, including mockups and proof-of-concepts. Develops and oversees project schedules and budgetary demands. Manage contracts released to vendors. Participate in the entire contracting process from initiation to close-out.Responsible for creation of overall budget and schedule for complex attractions, platforms and themed entertainment offerings. Oversees modifications to systems as required based upon design and field conditions. Drive technical improvements across all scopes.Responsible for technical teams (external and internal). Facilitate input from multiple teams including operations and technical teams to create standardized solutions for integration of systems. Facilitate communication between teams for clear delineation of scope for each responsible individual and vendor.Makes direct engineering contributions to projects as required relative to engineering, code and standards compliance, Universal Specification compliance, and technical systems achievement of creative and business goals. Reviews the technical plans and results for UC projects as assigned. Enforces Universal's specifications, standards, and technical contracting methods. Assists with Universal Patent pursuit and defense.Stay up-to-date with the latest in technology and industry trends and introduce new technology concepts. Particularly as it relates to protecting the intellectually property associated with the implementation of emerging technologies. Work closely with Creative development teams on creating the concept of the overall experience and ensuring delivery meets all creative requirements. Contributes to Universal Patent pursuit.Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.Performs other duties as assigned.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Supervises exempt and non-exempt professionals.EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required.
