Summary Once Upon a Time Schoolhouse in Belleville, WI is looking for full-time assistant and lead teachers. Full-time employees work a 9 hour shift with a one-hour lunch break, Monday through Friday. Potential teacher candidates must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Teachers will assist co-teachers in implementing a quality educational program and develop positive relationships with the children and their parents. Teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs. OUATS uses Creative Curriculum to create lesson plans. Each classroom receives paid lesson planning time. We also use the Pyramid Model framework and the Nurtured Heart Approach for behavior guidance. Assistant teachers often continue their education to receive their lead teacher certification and move into lead classroom teacher roles.
Duties Create and implement lesson plans and encourage participation by children.
Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
Follow all center policies and state regulations. Requirements Strong attendance record. High energy. Ability to work well with others. Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills. An understanding of child development. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Must clear full background check and must pass health screening. Nice To Haves Assistant or Lead Teacher qualifications/certifications Infant/Toddler certification Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification; Abusive Head Trauma, SIDS, and Mandated Reporter Trainings Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience. Excellent compensation based on education and/or experience ($16-$20) Follow Belleville School District for "snow days" About Us Once Upon a Time Schoolhouse is located in Belleville, WI approximately 15 minutes from Verona and 30 minutes from Monroe. We are located in the old Belleville Elementary School. We serve infants through school-aged children. Our operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We create and implement our lesson plans using Creative Curriculum. We use positive guidance and follow the Pyramid Model framework and Nurtured Heart Approach. Each classroom receives 2 hours of lesson planning time each week, additional conference planning time in preparation for parent/teacher conferences, and other incentives throughout the year.
