The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Kentucky is currently seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to function as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
This position will improve the capacity of the clinical practice, provide enhanced monitoring of clinically complex patients and contribute to excellence in patient care and patient satisfaction. Duties for this position include direct patient care, patient and family education, support to fast track and physician in the triage system, as well as serving as a critical member of the clinical care team.
This includes: obtaining patient health histories, reviewing outside records and performing complete physical examinations, as well as documenting findings noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings. In addition, this position orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, and performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patients clinical status.
Patient education will also be an essential function, and this position will be required to explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of therapy to patients, patients family, staff, and healthcare learners. In addition, this position will serve as a role model for advanced practice professional provider through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ( CMS ). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID -19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID -19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption.
