Full job description About New Mexico Military Institute: NMMI is a state-supported, co-educational college preparatory high school and junior college, complete with Junior and Senior ROTC programs. With a Corps of Cadets numbering up to 1000 young men and women, NMMI provides an accredited college preparatory curriculum on the high school level and a transfer junior college, operating within a conductive military environment.
Position Under general supervision, incumbents in this classification act as assistants to various administrators, performing numerous tasks at the direction of the administrator. They provide clerical and administrative assistance in addition to monitoring fiscal and budgetary activities to ensure the New Mexico Military Institute maintains a strong base for its programs. Administrative assistants provide budget tracking and monitoring and procurement services for their respective departments, often performing in the role of office manager. This is a non-exempt, 12-month, full-time position. The Salary is $35,608.00 ($17.12 per hour). The job description is available upon request.
Tasks: · Establishes and maintains manual and automated systems; maintains databases and files; monitors multiple budgets; provides support services to higher staff, faculty, and cadets; composes correspondence, reports, and other written communications; plans and conducts research and special projects; performs tasks related to computer hardware and software; maintains inventories; answers department telephone calls and e-mail; maintains office files and records.
· Generates periodic (e.g. weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, special, etc.) reports. Mass mail outs via USPS, UPS, or email.
· Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills: · Knowledge of office etiquette and processes.
· Ability to obtain knowledge of the NMMI Operations and Procedures Manual.
· Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the individualized position at the Institute.
· Knowledge of the variances and similarities between departments and divisions of the Institute.
· Skill in receiving and implementing instructions. Skill in oral and written communications.
· Skill in developing and administering budgets.
Qualifications: Required: · High school diploma.
· Two years of experience.
· Extensive experience with computer hardware and software.
Preferred: · The equivalent of an Associate's degree from an accredited community college, college, or university with a major in business or public administration, office administration, or related field.
· Two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative experience.
