Description
JOB GOAL: Perform the day-to-day accounting procedures and assist with the reporting of District financial and operational results. Essential and Marginal Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Carry out day-to-day general ledger accounting.
2. Prepare and analyze monthly financials.
3. Assist McCaskey Campus Principals in the management of budget and control of spending.
4. Post journal entries in the general ledger.
5. Revenue recognition, receivables, and payables analysis.
6. Assist with month-end closing.
7. Assist with the annual SDoL budget.
8. Assist with all audits of SDoL on an as requested basis.
9. Prepare reports and carry out analyses that provide insight into the District's financial and operational affairs.
10. Monitoring grant budgets and reporting compliance.
11. Bank reconciliation of District bank accounts.
The Accountant II's work extends across all District Funds, but is concentrated in McCaskey Campus activities (including the Athletic Department, Music and Theater Departments, etc.), the Cafeteria Fund, Student Activity Funds, and all McCaskey Campus grants.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Other duties assigned by the Accounting Supervisor, the Business Manager, the Chief Financial and Operations Officer, and/or the Superintendent. Qualifications
1. Knowledge of school finance, including accounting and reporting systems.
2. Knowledge of financial record-keeping using accrual accounting methods.
3. 3-5 years prior job experience in accounting or finance.
4. Experience in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and large system accounting software.
5. Requirement of a Bachelors of Science in Accounting or related experience with 3-5 years school district experience.
6. Proficient in use of technology, such as: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Systems and other software used in the District with a commitment to continuous improvement."

REPORTS TO: Accounting Supervisor
SUPERVISES: No direct reports
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full year. Salary to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance is evaluated in accordance with the Compensation and Performance Evaluation Plan for School and District Leaders.
