Primary Purpose of Position The primary purpose of this position is to provide a range of semi-skilled services to support the work operations of the Central Receiving Warehouse and Stores. The position is responsible for receiving, staging, delivery of State purchased goods, disposing and transfer of surplus property. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of managing a warehouse; knowledge of shipping and receiving parcels; knowledge of automated inventory tracking systems; knowledge of data processing ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills. A valid driver's license is required. Minimum Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalency. Work Hours Monday - Friday 8-5 Position required to work during periods of adverse weather or other emergencies No Campus Security Authority Designated Position No Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies Required Competency Customer Service Duties Maintain accurate accountability of all incoming purchase orders; via vendor deliveries. Employ the automated tracking system (IMAYL) to enter each PO# into web-systems at time of delivery. Ensure proper "staging" (days of the week), location of each PO#, iaw the incoming day. Parcels should be located in the bin according to the day of the week per its arrival. Maintain automated delivery log(s): Accurate completed delivery logs for each delivery run in AM/PM. Delivery driver must include in NOTES SECTION: Purchase Order Number; condition of delivered parcel (damaged, smashed etc…); number of boxes to be delivered. Maintain accurate accountability of all special bins: REFRIGERATOR/FREEZER AND PERISHABLE Goods: Must learn all vendors within this class of deliveries; to keep attention to detail of all incoming packages within this category. Must give priority to these packages when receiving on the dock and delivery. RETURNS: (maintain up-to-date information of all return merchandise from time of pick-up from department -to-pick up by vendor from Central Receiving warehouse. Maintain accurate status of RMAs, vendor information, times and dates of e-mail and voice mail conversation(s). Must be able to communicate to other team members a current status of parcel being return to vendor(s). HOLDS: Must maintain appropriate information relating to hold parcels for customer pick-up. NO PARCELS will remain on hold for more than one working day (24 hours), without management approval. TAGGING: Indicate appropriate tagging of parcels, per delivery, ALL PARCEL REQUIRING TAGGING MUST GO IN TAGGING AREA ONLY, until appropriate tagging of merchandise has been successfully completed. All tagging must be done within a 24-hour time window, unless extension of time is granted by management. Equipment Reviews: Responsible for the accountability, maintenance checks and safe-guard of all Central Receiving equipment (Hand-trucks (electric, manual); tape guns and other warehouse tools. Must notify management of any mishaps, broken, damaged or stolen equipment immediately (day of incident/occurrence) Environment/Safety: Warehouse floor is to be clear of all trash and debris at the close of each business day. ALL equipment is to be properly and safely stored away at the close of each business day. DO NOT remove, re-arrange or displace any property of Central Receiving/NCCU without proper authority. Required Competency Communication (Presentations, Oral, and Written) Duties Ability to respond to inquires relating to shipping and receiving by end-users and vendors. Maintain an open rapport with faculty and staff Demonstrate good proficiency in writing and oral communications Required Competency Knowledge - Program Duties Maintain proficiency in work processes and procedures. Maintain and update established data systems for accurate and complete reporting. Required Competency Managing Work and Performance Duties Ability to oversee work projects employing three-five workers. Demonstrate work proficiency in the use of all warehousing equipment to include periodic maintenance and upkeep for all models and brands.
