Black, Indigenous, People of Color, veterans, and those with diverse abilities are encouraged to apply.Job/Department Summary:Incumbents provide nursing care to patients in the WellCat Health Center performing a wide range of technical and skilled nursing duties and patient care activities under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant or physician and according to established standardized written procedures. Licensed Vocational Nurses are trained and licensed to administer oral and injectable medications, intravenous fluids and perform a variety of other nursing duties as defined within their scope of practice.Required Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of a state approved vocational nursing program in an accredited school of vocational nursing or equivalent training and experience as defined by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT);ANDLicense: Possess and maintain a valid Vocational Nurse license issued by the State of California; and may also be required to possess and maintain a valid CPR/AED certification and/or IV certification as appropriate to the assigned duties.Preferences:Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills: BilingualExperience in a Similar Setting: Preference for candidates with previous experience working in a university health clinic or a similar healthcare environment, especially with college-aged populations.Clinical Skills: Preference for candidates with strong clinical skills, including administering vaccinations, conducting screenings, and performing basic medical procedures such as phlebotomy and IV placement.Patient Education and Counseling: Preference for candidates with experience in providing health education and counseling to diverse populations, particularly college students.Team Collaboration: Preference for candidates who demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, counselors, and administrative staff.Cultural Competency: Preference for candidates who exhibit cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse needs and backgrounds of college students, including international students, LGBTQ+ students, and students from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Preference for candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in their healthcare practice and interactions with patients and colleagues.Time Base:Full-time- 1.0Pay Plan:12/12Work Schedule:Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer - Mon-Thurs 7:00-5:30.
