Responsibilities
• Oversee and monitor nondomestic user discharges• Review and analyze industrial self-monitoring reports and surveys• Inspect existing and proposed nondomestic facilities for compliance• Perform lab analysis for pH, Dissolved Oxygen, and Ammonia Nitrogen• Install and program monitoring equipment• Work with laboratory equipment• Prepare and maintain data bases• Meet and communicate with nondomestic users and City potable water supply customers• Draft and monitor collection system special discharge permits• Maintain and update the WWTP Pollution Incident Prevention Plan
Requirements
• Knowledge of WWTP, WWTP laboratory, and industrial wastewater treatment and pretreatment technology• Ability to operate a personal computer• Familiarity with City of Port Huron Code of Ordinances• Knowledge of State Plumbing Code and Code of Federal Regulations• Technical background for accurate field sampling• Ability to remove manhole covers and lift samplers• Investigate pollution complaints and arrange for waste disposal• Work with St. Clair County Landfill and EGLE personnel• Ability to read and understand site and building plans• Ability to understand and follow instructions• Associate of Science Degree or equivalent required• Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent desirable• Valid Michigan Driver License required• Completion of required education and training• Working hours: Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
