Lecturer in Anatomy and Physiology beginning Fall 2024 (9 month contract):
Limestone University is a small historic University located in Upstate South Carolina near Charlotte, NC and Spartanburg/Greenville, SC, founded in 1845 to serve women with the stated mission to provide opportunities for higher education for those who might otherwise not have them. Limestone now serves a significant first-generation co-ed college student and minority population as well as a vibrant Honors College and Health Sciences and Nursing program with a diverse student body with many international students.
The College of Health Sciences includes Biology and related science disciplines and produces students who succeed in medical, dental, veterinary, pharmacy and other doctoral level professional programs at a high level. In addition, the College includes Health Care Administration, Health Sciences, Kinesiology/Exercise Science/Strength and Conditioning, PE Education- Certification, Nursing (BSN and MSN), and a rapidly growing Health Sciences major which prepares students for many certificate and master's level allied health professions programs.
The holder of this position will typically teach a total of 12-15 semester hours including human anatomy and physiology lectures and labs each Fall and Spring semester. There may also be opportunities to teach nonmajors Introductory Biology, upper-level electives of interest, as well as online Anatomy and Physiology in the summer term, for additional pay.
They will work with Biology, Health Sciences, Exercise Science and Nursing program faculty in the College of Health Sciences to support a diversity of learners, implement and innovate lecture and laboratory curricula, and maintain laboratory space and equipment. The position requires effective communication along with the ability to develop and deliver outcome-driven education collaboratively with colleagues, undergraduate teaching assistants, and students.
The ideal candidate will have: Doctorate or master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in Anatomy and Physiology or a related area or a Medical or Dental degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Demonstrated ability and willingness to use technology in creating and delivering course content.
