Human Resources Administrator

Working America is the community affiliate of the AFL-CIO. With four million members, Working America recruits and mobilizes people who do not have a union on the job in support of working families' issues.

The Human Resources Administrator is responsible for supporting the human resource needs of the organization to include but not limited to such employee onboarding and offboarding, collective bargaining agreement policy administration, health and safety protocols administration, and other general human resource duties. The Human Resources Administrator also supports Working America's executive leadership in confidential matters.

As a member of the Administration and Operations Department, the Human Resources Administrator will also work closely with the Compensation and Operations Supervisor on compensation matters.

The Human Resources Administrator is a Confidential position.

The position is fixed-term with an expected end date on or before Nov. 22, 2024.

Reports to : Managing Director

Duties:Implements and helps administers Working America's human resources policies and procedures for all employees at the national headquarters and in each of our field offices; Develop systems for uniform implementation of policies;Administers the enrollment and disenrollment of benefit programs for Working America employees including but not limited to health insurance, life insurance, 401(k) plans, etc.; Serve as primary point of contact with providers; Communicates benefit information to employees including but not limited to employee status changes and benefits enrollments;Supports Working America's executive leadership on confidential and other administrative matters;Provide backup support for Working America's payroll operations;Work with Administration and Operations Department to create and manage an effective and coherent onboarding and offboarding system for all employees;Develops and manages personnel-related processes for the organization (e.g. recruitment and retention of canvass staff);Conducts new employee orientations at the national headquarters to foster a positive attitude toward Working America goals;Provides support to Working America's health and safety measures;Reviews and assists with employee background and motor vehicle record checks, logs results in staff databases;Disseminates required human resources notices to the national headquarters and all offices;Provides administrative support for personnel-related compensation and bargaining unit matters (e.g. benefit banks, investigatory meetings; grievances);Manage Administration and Operations staff as needed; Assist in the general administration of the department as needed;Manage personnel files of all employees;Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:

2-4 years of experience in human resources and / or benefits administration;Experience with payroll and compensation preferred;Exhibit ethical conduct and maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times;Dependable, consistently at work and on time, strictly follow instructions and policy;Ability to prioritize, plan and organize work activities, and consistently use time efficiently;Strong interpersonal skills;Good judgment;Effective oral and written communication skills;Computer efficiency in Microsoft and / or Google Workspace product;Experience with ADP WorkforceNow a plus;Ability to work long and irregular hours;Ability to travelLocation:

Salary for this position starts at $72,775. Includes medical insurance and 401(k) with employer contribution.
