Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and collaborating closely with our Senior Leadership Team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a pivotal role in shaping our financial future. The successful candidate will serve as a proactive and strategic partner, providing insightful financial guidance to drive informed decision-making across all facets of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a dynamic team responsible for accounting, finance, budgeting, and business planning, with potential oversight of human resources, information technology, and general administration departments.
Manage all accounting processes, including bookkeeping, payroll management, billing, and financial tracking and reporting for various grants and contracts.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and private grant guidelines while optimizing service delivery and revenue.
Collaborate with the CEO and program directors to drive the annual budgeting and planning process, providing accurate and timely financial reports to support strategic decision-making.
Create pro forma financials and models to inform growth initiatives and resource allocations.
Facilitate the implementation of new accounting software to enhance operational efficiency.
Mentor and empower team members to maximize their potential and contribute to our organizational success.
Maintain billing and collection schedules to optimize cash flow and contract drawdowns.
Present financial reports to key stakeholders and support external audit processes.
Profile of the Ideal Candidate:
Credentials:
Five to seven years of senior financial leadership experience in a nonprofit or similar organization.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or management; relevant certifications or advanced degrees preferred.
Proficiency in government contracting, accounting, and reporting.
Skills and Qualities:
Strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance, with a track record of managing complex financial functions.
Experience with budgeting, fund accounting, and external audit processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information effectively to diverse audiences.
Proven leadership abilities, including hiring, onboarding, and developing high-performing teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; QuickBooks Online and bill.com experience desirable.
Exceptional relationship-building skills and a collaborative mindset.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining a commitment to integrity and trust.
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, salaried position with a competitive starting salary range of $150,000 to $175,000, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, long-term disability insurance, life insurance, 403B with match, and generous paid time off. Flexibility for remote work is available, with regular on-site presence required in.
