Job summary
This position is located within the Legal Division of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).The incumbent serves as a senior Attorney-Advisor in the Division's Office of Litigation.The incumbent represents the CPPB in defensive, appellate, and/or amicus litigation and provides legal advice and guidance to Bureau clients on all relevant legal matters.
Job seniority: mid-to-senior level
Responsibilities
• Represent the Bureau in defensive litigation and appellate litigation.• Draft and respond to motions, pleadings and other legal filings, handle all aspects of discovery, present oral argument, and conduct negotiations.• File amicus briefs to help courts decide significant questions of federal consumer financial protection.• Advise the Director and Bureau components on issues presenting litigation, mission-related, and reputational risks.• Collaborate with the Justice Department, Federal Trade Commission, prudential regulators, and others in the litigation of cases relevant to the Bureau's consumer protection mission.
Requirements
• Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.• Applicants will be selected at any one of the advertised grades based on experience and accomplishments.• Candidates may be considered for promotion in accordance with Bureau policy, which does not guarantee advancement to the next grade level.
